We've added a fifth member. Harold Timms has joined us on guitar, synths, percussion. Harold is a master of soundscapes and textures, and he is taking our music into new realms! Thanks to everyone who came out to support us at Harold's debut show with us last April at 7 Stages. Also Thanks to those who came out to the Variety, DragonCon, the ArtParty, and the Candler Park Fest last fall. And thanks to Flower Kings and Spocks Beard for working with us too! Also watch for Z-Axis spinoff projects to emerge in the near future. These "Z-Pods" will feature two or three Z-members in improvisitory settings. The seed for this idea came from a project Harold and AWG were involved in last Spring with Beacon Dance company. Large sections of our accompaniment for their "Inferno" piece was improvised over loops and synth rhythms, and the end result was quite musical. With Harold now in Z-Axis, we are working with similar concepts. Stay tuned! Our debut CD, Music From Reality Check, has received uniformly great reviews! Read some of them here. You can buy "Music from Reality Check from our site... click here, or it is available through the major on-line music resources (Amazon, CDNow, etc.) and at selected Atlanta-area record stores including Tower, Criminal Records, Wax n' Facts, Corner CD & Earthsaking Music, You can hear samples from our CD here, Or go to our site on mp3.com and download a couple of full tracks! Post-progressive rock; New-edge ambience; Psychedelia with a world-beat flavor; Synths, guitars and percussion; Funky, frenetic jams; Eclectic instrumental soundtracks to surreal multi-media experiences... Initially formed in 1997 to perform the music for the multi-media production Reality Check, Z-Axis soon discovered a unique chemistry and decided to use the band as a vehicle to push the frontiers of their own musical expressions. Their music ranges from structured suites to extended improvisations. They are primarilly instrumental though they have been known to sneak in a vocal piece from time to time. Their shows range from informal jams to elaborate multi-media events. You can download a Quicktime video clip with scenes from Reality Check here...
